Frederick J. Chiaventone
The 13th Count of Castel Vecchia
is a novelist, screenwriter, military historian, consultant, retired
cavalry officer and Professor Emeritus for International Security
Affairs at the US Army's Command and General Staff College. |

Ed Ruggero
After graduating from West Point in 1980, Ed
Ruggero was commissioned in the United States Army and served as
an infantry officer in a variety of positions around the world.
Awarded a Master’s Degree in English from the University of
North Carolina in 1987, Ed joined the faculty at West Point, where
he taught writing and literature. In 1990 he was selected for
promotion and further schooling at L’Ecole Militaire in Paris;
that same year also saw the publication of his first book, 38
North Yankee, a novel about a modern Korean War. Ed left the
service in 1991 to pursue a career as a writer, public speaker and
trainer.

His writings on leadership, his story-telling talents and the
success of his first five novels (including The Common Defense,
Firefall, Breaking Ranks and The Academy) brought him to the
attention of the Pentagon, and early in 1998 Ed co-authored the
newly revised manual, Army Leadership, which is used
throughout the service to teach the subject at all levels. For the
past several years, Ed has also been a highly sought-after keynote
speaker, addressing business and professional organizations on all
aspects of leadership, leader development and character
development. |
| Ed lives near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with
his wife, Marcia Noa, son Colin and daughter Dealyn. |

JOHN WESTERMANN
John Westermann is a retired Long Island police
officer who was decorated three times for excellence and bravery. He
is the author of five crime novels, including
EXIT WOUNDS, which is currently filming in Toronto, starring
Steven Seagal, DMX, and Jill Hennessy, and which will be a major
Warner Bros. release in 2001.
Mr. Westermann, who flunked out of Trinity
College in Hartford, has taught fiction writing seminars at Dowling
College, The Latin School in Chicago, and the Boston Center for
Adult Education. He has appeared on NPR, New York and Co., WABC-TV,
and News 12 in Long Island.

His article “Lessons I’ve Learned” appeared in the April 1994
issue of Writer’s Digest. His short story “Trauma Bells are
Ringing” won the 1999 Blaggard Award from New Mystery
Magazine. Mr. Westermann lives on Long Island with his twelve-year
old son Jake.
