| From 1980 to 1989, Edward C. Tracy held various
positions with the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers
(ASCAP), in Boston and New York City, rising to the position of Director
of Licensing and Station Relations in the Radio Division. In his
position with ASCAP, he managed a staff of twelve station relations
representatives, was responsible for the national radio broadcast
relations program, planned and hosted major corporate events and
testified in court as an expert witness in the copyright law as it
pertains to public performance.
Edward Tracy returned to Vermont in 1989 to a
position with Norwich University, Northfield, Vermont, in the Advancement
Office. He has served the University in a variety of roles during three
capital campaigns from Major Gifts Officer to Campaign Director of the
current Leadership Campaign from 1995 to 1998. He has planned and
produced significant University events including:
- President's Inaugural Dinner (1993)
- 175th Anniversary Gala - Medal of Honor Dinner
(1994)
- Visiting Vietnam Wall program (1996)
- Norwich Nights program on Broadway, in
Washington and Los Angeles at Sony Studios
- Campaign related fund-raising and promotional
events nationally
- Official visits to the University campus by the
Prime Minister of the Ivory Coast, the French Consulate, and others.
In 1996, Ed Tracy, with authors W.E. B. Griffin,
Carlo D'Este and the late Ambassador William E. Colby, convened the
first military writers' symposium at Norwich University. In 1997,
following the untimely death of Ambassador Colby, the program was
renamed the William E. Colby Military Writers' Symposium. In recent
years, the program has expanded to include annual sessions at the
National Press Club in Washington, DC and has involved over 40 of the
top authors in the country and produced three educational television
programs on the events.
Edward Tracy, a graduate of the University of
Vermont and a Vermont native, is currently Executive Director of the
Colby Symposium, Director of University Events at Norwich University,
and Vice President and Director of Programs, Marketing and Production
for the McCarthy Creative Services Program
Development & Speakers Division.
